Your first appointment includes a comprehensive orthodontic assessment, including examination of the teeth, bite, jaws and gums, alongside 3D digital scans and orthodontic photographs to help us plan your treatment accurately. Radiographs may also be recommended to further assess the teeth, roots and supporting bone

Custom aligner phase

You will receive a series of bespoke, clear aligners. Each set is worn for 1–2 weeks, gently and gradually moving your teeth into their desired positions.

Frequently asked questions

The duration depends on the complexity of your case, but most treatments at our Stockport dental practice are completed within 6 to 18 months. We will provide a specific timeframe during your initial consultation.

You may feel a slight sensation of pressure for the first day or two after switching to a new set of aligners. This is a good sign—it means the aligners are working to move your teeth. Most patients find them significantly more comfortable than traditional braces.

For the best results, you should wear your Invisalign aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day. You should only remove them to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush your teeth.

Like any orthodontic appliance, there may be a very minor adjustment period of a day or two where you might have a slight lisp. Most patients adapt very quickly, and their speech returns to normal almost immediately.

Cleaning is simple. You can brush them gently with a soft toothbrush and lukewarm water, or use Invisalign cleaning crystals to keep them crystal clear and fresh.
